Weekend in Taipei

I'll start out with a fair warning, this post is WAY picture heavy! After a week in our respective new  homes a few of us girls that met up at orientation decided that we had earned ourselves a fun girls weekend, and what better place to do that but while exploring Taipei! After a jumble of buses, express trains, and the high speed rail  (the dang place is only 50 miles from me I swear!) we settled into our swanky little hostel and began exploring!

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- DAY 1 --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

First things first on the relaxing agenda...dinner and drinks! Though I don't have pictures of dinner (we ate too fast!) it was absolutely delicious!

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- DAY 2 --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Helloooo Taipei 101! Once known as the tallest building in the world, this beautiful building stands at 101 floors and 1,670 feet tall and towers over the rest of Taipei. Watching as the sun set behind this building was beyond beautiful  and seeing the city at night from 89 floors up was breathtaking as well!

To prove that I was actually there and the one behind the camera!

Tell me this isn't one of the most beautiful buildings ever!!!

This large "ball" on the 89th floor of Taipei 101 acts as the buildings wind dampner system. It was neat to read about how it worked and what it did to keep  the building steady (it was apparently put to the test last weekend during our 'little' typhoon scare!)
Taipei at night...the 360 degree view was AMAZING!

What better way to end a fun day in Taiwan besides visiting a  night market! The Shilin Night Market is one of the most popular ones in Taipei, and it most certainly did not disappoint! The people, the vendors, the foods, and the smells (sadly not all good! haha) I could have spent hours here! This little (ok not so little it was monstrous) mango ice was our reward for such a tough and  grueling 2nd day in Taipei!

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- DAY 3 --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

We didn't stay long on Sunday...just long enough to get some food {naturally!} We weren't sure what we were in the mood for, but these Taiwanese breakfast sandwiches hit the spot and were amazing! They were made from traditional Taiwanese sticky buns and had an onion omelet and some type of pork patty in it...dee-lish-ous!

Adios Taipei...until next time!
